WE EASE YOUR ANXIETY IN THE DENTAL OFFICE
While people may understand that they need to visit the dental office, sometimes fear or anxiety makes that task simply impossible. We want you to feel as comfortable as possible especially if you have had a negative experience in the past and struggle to complete care as a result. At Castle Lake Dental, Dr. Sharp offers multiple sedation options so you can determine the one that best suits your needs. Just give us a call and we will help you get started with relaxing sedation dentistry in our Lewisville, TX dental office!
Nitrous Oxide Sedation Dentistry
One of the most common forms of sedation in dentistry, nitrous oxide consists of both nitrous and oxygen to create a calming sensation when inhaled. To do this, we provide a small nasal mask that is worn throughout treatment, putting you into a lightly relaxed state. Once treatment is complete, we will remove the mask and the effects of the sedative disappear as quickly as they came! This means you can resume your daily activities without interruption.
Oral Conscious Sedation Dentistry
For those with moderate levels of anxiety, our oral conscious sedation is a great option. Taken about an hour or so before your treatment begins, this sedative makes you feel even more relaxed than nitrous oxide, but still awake so you can speak with the dentist directly about your comfort levels. Since the sedative is generally more powerful, you will need to have a friend or family member drive you to and from the dental office.
IV Sedation Dentistry
The most powerful of sedation available in dentistry, IV sedation is administered intravenously through the bloodstream. This option is more ideal for those with severe levels of anxiety or special needs. The IV allows the anesthesiologist to control the amount of sedative provided at any given time, while Dr. Sharp completes your dental treatment. Following your appointment, we ask that you have a friend or family pick you up form your appointment. You should also wait about 12 hours for the effects to complete wear off.
Sedation Dentistry for Special Needs
In some cases, patients may find it very difficult to complete even the most basic dental treatments. If you have a family member with special needs that can’t seem to complete dental services as a result, we want you to know that there is an option available to them. The sedation we provide is sure to make them feel calm and prepared for their next treatment, whether it’s a simple exam and cleaning or more complex care.
